It is like we’ve just celebrated New Year, but obviously not as we are all walking through almost the end of the path. For Thai people, it is a great month after all, why is that? long holidays?
This is true too but more importantly, it is the month of showing great respect to His Majesty The King. Yes, it is .Thai Father’s Day being marked on every 5th of December.
What should we do on Father’s day?
Well, many activities have been running throughout the kingdom such as “plant trees campaign” “Clean rivers and roads campaign” and this year campaign is “Bike for Dad”. Those activities are meant to show how much love and respect Thai people have for our king demonstrated by marking him as a great father of Thailand, on the other hand, it is also a way to show how much love and respect we have for all dads.
What is the symbol of Father’s Day?
Many Thai people know that there is a remarkable flower for this very special day called, Putaraksa.
“Puta” means Lord Budha and ” Raksa” means to look after or a guardian. “Putaraksa” means peace and harmony. According to its yellow colour which is also the colour of the day our great king was born , the Putaraksa flower has become the symbol of Father’s Day.
Our generations believed that if you have “Putaraksa” flower grown in front of your house, it will protect the family from harm and dangers.
Linguaplus Language School team is always happy to participate as well as to urge and give information needed for our students, so that they are able to join with Thais respectively and enjoy this auspicious time of the year.
